Deck Introduction Anti-Meta is a mixture of prison and beatdown strategies that seeks to limit the lines of play available to opponents by using floodgate effects. Anti-Meta is also relatively flexible in its ability to adapt its floodgate lineup based on the match up. Since Quickdraw Dandywarrior won the SJC this is often the deck that Anti-Meta is tuned to beat. Deck Strategy Anti-Meta has in its arsenal numerous floodgates to control the game with, notable Monster floodgates include: Thunder King Rai-Oh, which prevents both players from searching their decks and can negate a Special Summon at the cost of itself; Banisher of the Radiance, which causes all Monsters sent to the Graveyard to be Banished instead; and Doomcaliber Knight, which acts as both a beater and Monster negation. Dimensional Fissure is a great Spell floodgate because it acts as additional copies of Banisher of the Radiance without costing you your normal summon. Lastly, this is probably the deck that utilizes Royal Oppression the best in this format because it is yet another nail in the coffin that helps shut your opponent out of the game. Anti-Meta also has a great beatdown game plan because it’s Monsters are huge, often having 1900 ATK and while Skill Drain is active, you can use Beast King Barbaros’ effect to slam down the whopping 3000 ATK baddie. Strengths and Weaknesses Anti-Meta has a very straightforward game plan, establish two or more floodgates on the board and then beat your opponent down. This makes the deck very powerful with the right draw and some matches are so in your favor you'll almost be playing on auto-pilot. Another strength of the deck is that while your opponents will often be fiddling around with low ATK point monsters that have useful effects you'll be stomping on their monsters with your huge beaters that also happen to negate those very same effects. Talk about a win-win. With all the strengths of Anti-Meta also come some very large weaknesses, your game plan can fold to having the wrong floodgates for the match up, you can just straight up lose to a high Defense point monster, or your opponent can out a key floodgate with a piece of removal and worm their way out of your lock. While this deck is relatively straight forward it is also not particularly noob friendly because a simple mistake can easily cost you the game.
