With so many monsters capable of Special Summoning themselves it becomes important to distinguish between the type of Special Summon being conducted.
- A Summon effect, also called a Built-in Special Summon, DOES NOT START A CHAIN, and may include costs such as discarding a card. These come in the form of Summon Conditions (ex: "Quickdraw Synchron") and Summon Effects (ex: "Cyber Dragon").
- A Special Summon with a monster effect (ex: "Dark Simorgh", "Level Eater") DOES START A CHAIN.

-Monsters in the Main Deck section DO NOT START A CHAIN.
-Monsters in the Side Deck section DO USE THE CHAIN when their effect to Summon is activated.
